In the municipality of São Domingos in Santiago, is the highest point of
the island. With about 1394 m altitude the "Pico de Antonia" (Antonia´s
Peek in english) stands out on the landscape of the interior of
Santiago.
Having volcanic origins, the peak is part of a mountain range separating
the island. The hillside is part of the Natural Park of Rui Vaz
conservation area.
The "Pico de Antonia" offers a challenging hike for those who dare to
climb its hillside to the highest point. With several obstacles, the
trail challenges its visitors to strive to reach the top.
The top of the mountain offers a magnificent 360 degrees view of the
island of Santiago, where you can also see the neighboring islands of
Maio and Fogo.
